Visit from the Science and Technology Advisor to the US Secretary of State
Dr Nina Fedoroff, Science and Technology Advisor to the US Secretary of State and to the Administrator of the US Agency for International Development, spoke at the Smith School in an event co-hosted by the Oxford Department of International Development. Dr Fedoroff is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and is a recipient of the National Medal of Science. Her talk, “Science Diplomacy for the 21st Century,” argued that science and technology are important but underutilized tools in diplomacy and foreign aid, and demonstrated how science diplomacy can make a more effective contribution to policymaking.
