Director of Futures leads Centenary–Oxford 2050 Fellows in community planning sessions

Dr. Angela Wilkinson, Director of Futures at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, has led sessions at a gathering of community leaders hosted by The Frost School of Business and Oxford University at Centenary College in Louisiana. The select group, named the Centenary–Oxford 2050 Fellows, engaged in community-based scenario building, learning ways to anticipate and act on the key forces that will shape the future for northwest Louisiana residents.

Dr. Wilkinson said:

“In scenario thinking, we believe that prediction is not possible around the long-term. Rather than relying on cloudy crystal balls, it is better to be suitably prepared than precisely wrong. We get people to think of alternative futures that might come about whether they would like them to or not, so they more fully consider the actions and choices they are facing today.”

Moving forward, the group aims to broaden community engagement through the launch of a new website.
