Visiting Fellow discusses over-consumption and short-termism in new book
Catherine Cameron, Visiting Fellow at the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, is one of a number of contributors to a new book, `2052: A Global Forecast for the next 40 years’ by Jorgen Randers. The book, launched by the Club of Rome in May 2012, explores the possibility that humankind might not survive on the planet if it continues on its path of over-consumption and short-termism.
The book raises essential questions: How many people will the planet be able to support? Will the belief in endless growth crumble? Will runaway climate change take hold? Where will quality of life improve, and where will it decline?
`This thoughtful and thought provoking book will be inspiring and challenging for all who really care about our common future.’ Gro Harlem Brundtland
`An unconventional and lucid explanation of the likely macroeconoic developments of the world over the next 40 years.‘ Lord Nicholas Stern
