Student opportunities

The Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment does not admit undergraduate or postgraduate students in its own right.  One of the objectives of the Smith School, however, is to help to create a community of graduates working in the private and public sectors in environmental areas.

Undergraduate and graduate taught courses

Smith School Research Fellows are all associated with departments that offer undergraduate and graduate programmes.  Our staff members currently teach in the following departments:

• Saïd Business School
• Economics
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Geography and the Environment (including the Environmental Change Institute and the Transport Studies Unit)

Postgraduate research

Applicants who are interested in working with Smith School Research Fellows should follow the application procedures detailed on the University’s website.  Smith School Fellows are able to co-supervise DPhil students, but students must be registered in a department such as Geography, Physics, or Economics.

Students may wish to contact potential supervisors directly to discuss research proposals.  The Smith School has a large group of Faculty Associates in many departments across the University, all working on environmental issues.  The Smith School would encourage students to be jointly supervised by Smith School Fellows and other researchers from across the University.

Students who are jointly supervised by Smith School Fellows may be able to use desks in the Smith School on a part-time basis to enable them to benefit from the interdisciplinary environment.
