Grace McGlynn
Grace McGlynn, Co-Director of Integrated Decision Management Ltd (Nuclear Fuel Cycle Consultancy)
Grace graduated from Nottingham University with a Law degree and joined British Nuclear Fuels plc in 1975. Despite an initial intention to make a career in industrial relations, Grace followed an interest in generating the regulatory, political and public ‘license to operate’ for nuclear fuel cycle operations and activities and in making the industry more accessible to a wide range of stakeholders.
Over the past 30 years, Grace has been involved in political and government relations; regulatory issues management, non-proliferation and safeguards, and has developed communications strategies including overseeing campaigns around gaining approvals to operate some of the UK’s most controversial nuclear facilities. Her experience covers all aspects of the UK nuclear fuel cycle and the public policy and regulatory frameworks within which the nuclear sector operates. From 1998 through to 2004, she was the main sponsor and co-ordinator of the ground-breaking BNFL National Stakeholder Dialogue process and was also responsible for the production of BNFL’s first award-winning Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
Grace retired as the Deputy Director of Corporate Communications in 2005 and became a Co-Director of Integrated Decision Management Limited, where she continues to provide consultancy advice on nuclear energy and fuel cycle issues and stakeholder engagement processes. Her client list has included the Department of Energy and Climate Change; the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority; the Committee on Radioactive Waste Management; Cumbrian Local Authorities; various Site Licensee Companies; the Dalton Nuclear Institute, Britain’s Energy Coast and the National Grid. Grace also has links into Manchester University, including lecturing on N-TEC Masters’ courses.
