Professor Thomas Brewer

Thomas Brewer is the U.S. Special Adviser and a member of the International Advisory Council for Climate Strategies, an international network of leading scholars on economic and policy issues concerning climate change, with a secretariat at Cambridge University in the UK. He is also a Schöller Foundation Research Fellow at Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany, an Associate Fellow of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels, and an emeritus faculty member of Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

While at the Smith School in March 2011, he is completing his book on the political economy of U.S. responses to climate change and continuing his research on international transfers of climate-friendly technologies. During his stay at the Smith School in 2009 he completed an editor’s introduction and edited the papers for a symposium in the refereed journal ‘The World Economy’. (Cameron Hepburn of the Smith School is one of the contributors.)  He also completed work as a co-author on a paper on international competitiveness issues in climate change policymaking in the EU and the US for publication in the refereed journal ‘Energy Policy’.
