Dr Alex Fischer
Honorary Research Associate
Alex holds a master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University and DPhil in Geography from the and reliable rural drinking services. His recent research in Bangladesh discusses how new data flows from sensors and smart-meters shape decision-making between water stakeholders, including communities, investors and policy-makers. He has also analysed how narratives of drinking water risks are constructed and framed in public media, and thus the role they have in shaping and constraining policy debates.
Fischer previously worked at the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), the Earth Institute at Columbia University on integrated socio-economic and environmental monitoring platforms in fragile states. He is currently Head of Research at the Paul Ramsay Foundation and a member of the United Nations SDSN Thematic Research Network on Data and Statistics.
