Ali McCook is a Researcher in Climate Change and Law at the Sustainable Law Program. She works at the interface of law and climate science, with her current research focussed on quantifying climate-related legal risks. Other research interests include the sustainable governance of ocean resources and oceanic carbon cycles.
Ali previously worked as a lawyer for the Australian Government, specialising in civil and environmental regulation. She also has experience as a Judge's associate, at the Permanent Court of Arbitration, and working in international legal policy for the Australian Attorney-General’s Department.
Ali holds an MSc in Sustainability, Enterprise and the Environment from the University of Oxford as a 2025 Ramsay Scholar; and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I, University Medal) and Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the Australian National University.
