Anneli Löfstedt

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Food System Environmental Modelling

Profile

Dr Anneli Löfstedt is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Food System Environmental Modelling at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on food systems transformation, with particular emphasis on the role of aquatic foods in sustainable and healthy diets.

Prior to joining Oxford, Anneli was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Aberdeen, where she created an open-source database mapping the UK seafood supply chain. She also completed her doctorate at Aberdeen, focusing on the links between fisheries and human nutrition. Her doctoral research modelled novel harvesting strategies that optimise for quality (nutrients), as opposed to quantity (yield).

At Oxford, Anneli contributes to the Sustainable and Healthy Interventions for Food Transitions (SHIFT) project, funded by the Wellcome Trust. Her work evaluates how policy interventions affect environmental and health outcomes, identifying trade-offs and potential inequalities across demographic groups in the United Kingdom.

She is a member of the Smith School’s Sustainable Food Solutions Programme and the Oxford Martin School’s Future of Food Network, and actively engages with policy and public audiences to translate research on sustainable diets into practice.
