Dr. Maganizo Kruger Nyasulu is a complex systems scientist whose research focuses on developing methods to assess nature-related financial risks, creating bankable markets for nature, financing nature recovery, and innovating nature-positive financial instruments. Before joining the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment, Maganizo gained valuable experience working with prominent public institutions including the United Nations, and with leading private sector organizations in finance, food systems, leadership strategy, and global health. He also co-founded two startups.
Dr. Nyasulu holds a PhD in Sustainability Sciences from Stockholm University at the Stockholm Resilience Centre, with affiliations to the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany, and the US Geological Survey, USA. His doctoral research focused on modelling future sustainable agricultural water resource management to support the Earth's biosphere and promote societal economic prosperity while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He has a background in Economics from the University of Malawi and an MSc in Sustainable Development, specialising in Systems Dynamics from Uppsala University, Sweden.
