Dr Mark Bernhofen

Research Associate in Climate Analytics and Scenarios, Oxford Sustainable Finance Group

Mark is a research associate at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group. His research focuses on the interpretation and use of climate risk analytics by financial institutions as part of the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment

Mark recently completed his PhD at the University of Leeds. His doctoral research involved the validation of global flood models, examining the impact of river size representation on global flood model reliability, as well as evaluating and applying different global datasets of exposure and vulnerability.  Other recent work has explored the use of global flood risk data for national flood risk management. As a consultant for the World Bank, Mark is working on a project which assesses city scale flood risk by combining global datasets with local information.

In addition to a PhD, Mark holds an MEng in Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Leeds.
