Profile

Saurabh Trivedi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, where his research focuses on developing financial solutions for renewable energy investments. His work examines risk factors in climate finance and strategies to accelerate clean energy adoption.

As a Sustainable Finance Specialist at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA), Saurabh led projects including econometric assessments of electric mobility policies in India, carbon market price simulations and policy analysis with IIT Roorkee and EDF, and transition frameworks for industrial decarbonization. During this time, he co-authored two papers that were admitted as official inputs for the G20 Sustainable Finance Working Group under the Brazilian Presidency. His research at IEEFA evaluated financing mechanisms for low-carbon transition and assessed outcome-based debt instruments like sustainability-linked bonds.

Previously, at Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), Saurabh served as Senior Analyst on the Climate Finance Team, where he published research on climate finance and designed methodologies for quantitative analysis. As a key member of the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, he analyzed, designed, and stress-tested innovative financial instruments aimed at unlocking private and public investments in clean energy.

Saurabh holds a PhD in Climate and Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia where his research examined the relationship between carbon risk management, bond short selling, and credit default swap spreads. His work appeared in journals including Energy Policy and Renewable Energy.

He has presented at international forums including the Asia Energy Security and Transition Cooperation Forum in Beijing and the Midwest Finance Association's Annual Conference in Chicago. Saurabh's research has been cited by Stanford University, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Parliament of Australia.

Saurabh brings a distinctive perspective to climate finance research, combining academic expertise with insights from his experience in financial markets at JP Morgan and Alexandria Real Estate Equities.
