Shirin Ermis
Research Assistant in Climate Damages Analysis
Profile
Shirin is a research assistant with the Climate Litigation Lab in the Sustainable Law Program and a doctoral researcher in the Physics Department working in collaboration with the UK Met Office.
In her work for the Climate Litigation Lab, she is interested in estimating economic damages from (hydro)meteorological extremes in the US to support policy and potential litigation cases.
In her DPhil, Shirin focusses on extreme event attribution using medium-range weather forecasts to assess changes in extreme weather events with climate change. For this, she further develops forecast-based attribution and uses it to study midlatitude cyclones.
Shirin holds a BSc in Physics from Heidelberg (Germany) and a MSc in Physics with Extended Research from Imperial College London. Apart from her research, Shirin is interested in evidence-based policy and science journalism.
